Shouri no BIG WAVE!
The new group of Niigaki Risa, Mitsui Aika, Okai Chisato, and Nakajima Saki has finally released a PV!
We have Risa as Athena and the other three as a sort of backup.
What disappoints me is how Aika is in the back! At times she is covered up by Risa. In my opinion she should be up front with Risa. She really shines in the video!
The other two seem too flat. In every one of the close up shots of Aika there's some cute pose or movement that even goes with the song. In most of the C-ute girls' shots is just head movement to the singing. It seems like Chisato and Saki worry too much about looking stupid or uncute. Aika on the other hand just goes for it! She really looks like she's getting into the song and having fun.
I can see the same poses (or lack of poses and just singing with nodding) that I've seen in other PVs.
The poses seem generic and boring, as if someone showed them how to look cute. Maybe it's expected from someone who's never done it before, but these two have had plenty of camera time. I don't think they've really gotten out of the "I'm a young newbie and can just sing and stand here looking cute" phase and graduated to the "I can make up my own poses and move more" phase that Aika and the seasoned gals of Morning Musume is in. Though I'm not trying to pick on Saki and Chisato! I see all the other C-ute girls doing the same thing. Just watch a C-ute PV compared to a Momusu one. Even when a girl in a Morning Musume PV just stands there, they'll creativly look off at something or add a nod to the head at the right spot to make it pop.
Well, here are some more pictures from the PV. Enjoy!

It does nothing for Chisato, is the problem. Chisato is such a damn good singer and becomes more and more enjoyable to watch, but this song does nothing for her voice (since it's cutesy, it doesn't allow her to show off the strength and maturity of her singing) and she barely even gets any shots in the PV. I agree that she's not even particularly interesting to watch here, but I wouldn't say she's like that all the time, since her solo close-up version of Meguru was so entertaining.
The song fits better with Saki's voice, but she's not all that interesting here, either, though she looks slightly older than usual. And when I'd heard originally that this would be a Risa solo release, I was sooooo fucking excited, but Risa doesn't interest me much in this PV. Micchi outshines them all.
Yeah, I think Aika looks better with the cute stuff then the "cool" image. But she does good with both! And her movements had me laughing- the "wave" she does with her hand is adorable!
And I agree, Saki and Chisato need the attention. Though I don't think with Aika around, they'll get much of it from me! xD Gaki too: I even forgot to comment much on her!
The song is very upbeat and soo much fun. But now I don't like listening to it as much as I do when I watch it.
I don't know much about the girls of C-ute, but now I'll have to check up on Chisato. I want to hear this powerful voice of hers. I'll admit that most of my opinions are based on this PV. xD I will watch Meguru again and pay more attention.
I agree that Risa was sort of invisible. I even forgot to talk about her in my post. XD She was cute, but not a ton/not enough. But how old is she? 18/19? Now that I think of it, it is sort of silly to have her in such a song. So maybe it's good there were the younger girls in the song. I'd love a solo song from her, but I'd rather a kick butt song with tons of energy rather then a happy-sparkle-yay kind of song.
